Here’s the Season…
Happy Holidays!!

“I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.”

Way Late Update – Part 4
This is really bad. I’m writing a way late update when I’m actually back in the Netherlands. Oh well, better late than never. At least I will experience the satisfaction of finishing these Canterbury Updates. Which enables me to start working on ‘serious’ stuff. (ahem)
Sooo…. I will use this blog post to discuss the Sinterklaas party I had in Kent, and the going away party we had in Canterbury. I’ll add pictures later, since I’m typing this on my parents’ laptop, and I cannot magically transfer the files from my computer to this one without turning it on. And I’m too lazy for those logistics right now. No-one will read this, probably, but that’s okay. It’s fun talking/typing to yourself, and it’s a great way to relive all those Kent moments.
Onwards, my (imaginary) friend! Read more…
Way Late Update – Part 3
I’m so lazy when it comes to updating. Man, I should show some devotion or something. *sigh*. Well, part 3 of my ‘way late update’ series, here for your entertainment!!
London
Thursday 26 November was a memorable day. Yes siree. The day where I would meet up in London with mister Jordi Wijnalda, a.k.a. LikeTheCastOfAFelliniMovie. I took the 9:05am bus from Canterbury Bus Station (the cheapest option) to Victoria Coach Station, arriving at about 11 o’clock, only to find a bench there and wait for Jordi to arrive. It was kind of strange to meet up with a friend from Amsterdam again. Just, the whole experience of talking Dutch again, and hearing stories of Amsterdam, and….I dunno. It was weird. It was great. Kind of humbling as well, knowing that there are people who miss you. It’s really sweet, receiving well wishes and everything. So, to those of you who feel directly addressed by this post, please consider this a massive shout out. MASSIVE shout out. I miss you guys too.
Anyway, moving away from the sappy and cheesy now. Read more…
In Honour of Charles Darwin Year
“I have tried lately to read Shakespeare, and found it so intolerably dull that it nauseated me.”
— Charles Darwin (1809-1882)

“Doing what little one can to increase the general stock of knowledge is as respectable an object of life, as one can in any likelihood pursue.”
— Charles Darwin (1809-1882)
“In the long history of humankind (and animal kind too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.”
— Charles Darwin (1809-1882)
”A moral being is one who is capable of reflecting on his past actions and their motives – and approving of some and disapproving of others.”
— Charles Darwin (1809-1882)
Thank you for your wisdom, Mr. Darwin.
Way Late Update – Part 2
As promised, the second part of my I-don’t-know-how-many-part updates. I’m hoping to cover my second trip to London, on 14 November, and my trip to Brighton, on 18 November.
London
This time I went to London with more people, namely Kristin, Kévin, Alessandro and Samantha. And instead of taking the train, as Kristin and I did the first time, we took the bus. Or coach, if you want to keep things English. Being poor students and all, taking the coach turned out to be cheaper. So, getting up way too early (since the bus would leave at 8.20am, and we’d have to be there 15 minutes prior to departure, and there would be no busses going from uni to the bus station, which ment we’d have to do the half hour walk to Canterbury Bus Station) and getting breakfast to-go at Rutherford, we set off towards London. According to the schedule we would be in London at about 10:30am, but since we didn’t have to stop along the way we were there earlier, at 10am. We’d arranged to meet Samantha at the National Gallery (Trafalgar Square) at 10:45am (she took the train, she had some sort of special ticket) and because we were in London earlier than planned, we spent more time being a tourist at Buckingham Palace. We’d arrived at Victoria Station, and Buckingham Palace was on the route to Trafalgar Square. Read more…
